Blue Gem Sunglasses

Three sites selling online easily managed with one dashboard.

Since 1982 Blue Gem has been designing fashion eyewear and sunglass accessories that have global appeal. First Crescent designed their web site, database backend, eCommerce system and Administration panel. This stunning new site combines three sites into one profit center with its easy to maintain eCommerce system.

Problems

For nearly 30 years Blue Gem has been selling sunglasses and reading glasses the same way, trade shows, telephone orders and fax orders. Blue Gem approached First Crescent several years ago with a problem. They had 2 separate web sites, one for Reading Glasses and one for Sun Glasses. Neither was making much if any money. Although the reading glasses web site supposedly had a shopping cart available for online purchases, the code was bad, unsecured and subject to countless problems. The sunglasses web site was a “look and leave” site with no shopping cart. It had nice photography, product shots and model shots but the only way a customer could make a purchase was to make a phone call.

Solutions

First Crescent was contracted to build an eCommerce site to sell the Blue Gem product line. Shortly into the process BlueGem wanted to expand the project to sell both product lines from the same web site. Each product line had its own unique domain name. First Crescent was able to build a single site that would know where the visitors were going. In other words if they were searching for Reading Glasses they would be directed to the www.designlinereaders.com whereas if they were searching for wholesale sunglasses they would be directed to the www.bluegem.com Ultimately a 3rd product line was added. So if someone was searching for Recycle Sunglasses they would be directed to www.blueplaneteyewear.com NOTE: all 3 web sites go to the same place. The same database /administration panel drives all 3 web sites.
The very robust, state-of-the-art Open Source shopping cart application: osCommerce was selected as the engine to drive these 3 web sites. First Crescent’s innovative and competent programmer “RJ” was able to custom the backend administration panel to satisfy the client needs and the discerning purchasing customer. Lastly in order to improve search engine ranking, First Crescent collaborated with Search Engine Specialists Mission Web Marketing to implement best methods and procedures for Level II Search Engine Optimization.
