Causes We Support

First Crescent has a strong set of core values centered on sustainability, fair trade, and natural capitalism. Sustainability is the potential for long-term maintenance of wellbeing, which in turn depends on the wellbeing of the natural world and the responsible use of natural resources. First Crescent is proud to support these causes that support our planet:

Casa Dolores – is devoted to the collection, preservation, study and exhibition of an extensive variety of objects of the popular arts of Mexico. The center’s mission is to expand the passion of Mexican Arts and Crafts with the community and visitors by stimulating the appreciation of the Mexican culture through educational programs, demonstrations, and free access to exhibits and the center’s library.

EFF – fights critical legal battles to defend free speech, stand up for privacy, fight for government transparency, support consumer rights, and protect our rights to innovation in the digital world.

Creative Commons – is a nonprofit organization who works to increase the amount of creativity (cultural, educational, and scientific content) in “the commons” — the body of work that is available to the public for free and legal sharing, use, repurposing, and remixing.

Forest Stewardship Council – Supporter of the Forest Stewardship Council and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Sustainability is the principle of meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising those of future generations.

Feeding America – Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity.  Our mission is to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. Each year, the Feeding America network provides food to more than 37 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States, including 14 million children and nearly 3 million seniors.

Sierra Club – are the oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States.

Environmental Defense Fund – Environmental Defense Fund is dedicated to protecting the environmental rights of all people, including future generations. Among these rights are access to clean air and water, healthy and nourishing food, and flourishing ecosystems.

NRDC – is the nation’s most effective environmental action group, combining the grassroots power of 1.3 million members and online activists with the courtroom clout and expertise of more than 350 lawyers, scientists and other professionals.

Move On – which primarily focuses on nonpartisan education and advocacy on important national issues.

Code Pink – is a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, stop new wars, and redirect our resources into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming activities.
